With schools catching up after 2 years of being closed, Camps have also started to pick up right here at Camp Canaan! We have been able to go back to running programs, meeting regularly as a team, and pursue our God given purpose through camping.

TOUCH

We have been able to run a total of 5 camp programs between September and December!

Girls Camp

At a one day program in October, themed ‘BOOMERANG’, we aimed at encouraging the young girls, that God is always present. That they could go back to Him by making an effort to connect with Him personally, through community, friends, and through our follow up monthly programs. We had 18 girls attend camp this year.

“We all really had a very great and lovely time with all our sweet one’s”

Boys Camp

29 boys went away for a 4 day camp in November, to Yelagiri. They had an activity driven camp that focused on a similar theme of ‘BOOMERANG’, getting back to God. It was also a program that encouraged campers to build healthy relationships between each other, and to create a supportive and Christlike community.

Church Camp

The Powerhouse Church, invited Camp Canaan to run activities for their annual church camp. We set out to Yelagiri, during the Diwali holidays in October, for a 3 day program in the hills. With a group of 87 participants, it was a good experience for the church and the team. We ran all sessions for the kids, as well as activities and debrief for the adults. With the camp focusing on ‘Roots’, we were enable to play our role in helping the church community connect with each other.

Get Back up

We are so grateful to have been able to run our monthly follow up program regularly over this year. We have been focusing on the theme ‘BOOMERANG’ every month which really enforces the teaching and experiences introduced at the boys and girls camp.

Our volunteers are also able to identify a few participants that show potential in serving as volunteers the following year. We hope to encourage and invest into the few, and train them in the coming year.

TRANSFORM

With the main purpose, to provide a place of opportunity to encourage change, we focus all our relationships and activities toward this. We pursue change in the lives of our campers, volunteers and team; From growing in their identity and skills, to growing in their walk with God and each other.

A note from one of our volunteers:

“I felt I need to be bathed with his Holy Spirit. felt like I just want to commit myself with God completely. Not for name sake but from in-depth of my heart. Also to start a new life with God. I was drowning with so many problems, at that moment I was not clear. At that moment I felt like I want to take baptised. After my baptism I felt some inner peace even though I was in problems. I felt very new after getting baptised… things are not changed still, but I changed a lot. I can feel God’s love and presence more than before.”

Finally Registered

One of our highlights for this year has been the long awaited registration of Camp Canaan. We were able to register in July 2022 and begin to function full speed ahead! This was a prayer answered, as it was on our prayer list at every team meeting, every single week! We are very grateful to God, and for your prayers and support in making this happen!

As we wind up for the year, we will host our annual Christmas gathering with our campers, as well as our thanksgiving service with our team. We look forward to a new year and all the adventures that lie ahead, in 2023!
